Identification of QTL Associated with Agro-Morphological and Phosphorus Content Traits in Finger Millet under Differential Phosphorus Supply via Linkage Mapping

Finger millet (Eleusine coracana (L.) Gaertn.) is one of the most important cereal crops for people in Asia and Africa. It supplies energy nutrients all people, particularly poor these continents. Phosphorus (P) an essential macronutrient plant growth grain quality, so adequate amount P required healthy life. There considerable evidence that deficiency affects growths yields cereals, including finger millet. The present study aimed at identifying quantitative trait loci (QTL) various agro-morphological P-content traits under low (LP) high (HP) conditions through linkage mapping. Two cultivars, IE-2606 (low-P-susceptible) PR-202 (low-P-tolerant) were used to develop 100 recombinant inbred lines (RILs). In total, 55 QTL, associated with (primary root length (PRL), shoot fresh weight (SFW), (RFW), dry (SDW), (RDW), hair density (RHD)) (inorganic phosphate content shoots (PiS), inorganic roots (PiR), total (TPS)) detected LP conditions. Similarly, 37 QTL (PRL, RFW, SDW, (RHL)) (PiS, PiR, TPS, (TPR)) HP Biotic abiotic stress-responsive candidate genes linked a few also identified. identified could be breeding programs better use efficiency (PUE). Furthermore, improving yield soil will help reduce Pi application eutrophication, which may improve lives farmers maintain sustainable environments African countries.
